  1. Whenever I burn a DVD using DVDLab, whatever volume label that I specify, it always ends up being/showing up as "UNDEFINED". I was wondering if this was a known issue with DVDLab. I'm using a Sony DRU-500A with Windows ME.

I would use ImgTool, but my version of Nero is too old for it and I'm not keen on installing the demo and having it play hide and go seek in my registry.

I love ImgTool though. I'm debating on getting the retail version of Nero. $60 is quite a bit though.

  2. Under "burn DVD from disk" there is a field for the volume name. I use it all the time to create ISO images of my DVDlab project. I then burn my image to the DVD using DVDdecrypter.

The volume name is always correct, i.e. , what I named it.

I have not heard about this beening a problem with DVDlab (1.3.1 and 1.4 pro).

  3. Yeah, I inputted the volume label that I wanted in that field and it still burns the volume as "UNDEFINED" or at least that's how it appears in Explorer and in PowerDVD. It plays fine, but I just want the label properly written. It's just more professional than having a label "UNDEFINED."

I downloaded the Nero demo and I burned to DVD+R using ImgTool. The volume label was as I specified.

I baffled why DVDLab is not writing the volume label properly on my setup. Anyone else experience this issue?

  4. Believe it or not, a lot of early dvd movies have UNDEFINED as the volume label. Folks thought it would make discs more compatible

  5. I never use DVD-Lab to burn the finished product. Use a dedicated tool for more predictable results.

Put MPAASUCKS on your volume labels so
they know they are in the right place when they raid your house

  7. Actually, the RIAA is on my side for this one. I'm working on my own personal release of my stop-motion animations. I'm flipping the Man the bird and going for a 100% independent release. Granted, even if 1000 people buy a copy I only stand to make around $10,000, and even then, I'd have to spend God knows how many hours burning them, not to mention the nightmare of receiving payments and mailing the DVDs! Man, now that I mention all of that I'm kinda depressed. That's no good!

That's some pretty impressive work. How long does it take to shoot a minute of stop-animation with the complexity of what you have in "Trouble!"?

  9. Thanks! Trouble was quite a long one to do. I'd estimate around 150 hours. That includes all the setup, character creation, animation, special effects, audio recording, and audio and video editing. The animation part is back-breaking, but the audio recording was pretty rigorous as well. It's hard work but taking it to film and video festivals and having people laugh at the foul language and toilet humor is a blast!
