  1. I'm trying to create my first VCD using NERO 5. I've followed the instructions and have created an image.nrg file. But it won't burn straight onto CD.
I've tried creating a data CD and copy this image.nrg file onto it, but it doesn't work through my DVD player (which is VCD compatable).
Would compatability be an issue between NERO 5 and Windows XP? Also the image recorder didn't install properly, could this be the problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can burn the image by going to the file menu and selecting "Burn Image". Make sure your CD writer is selected as the recorder and not "Image Recorder". One question: why did you create an image instead of burning straight to a disc? Is it because your writer is not detected by Nero?

  3. Thanks for your reply.
My writer isn't shown in the 'choose recorder', my only option is the image recorder. Do you think this is the problem?

Definitely. Did this version of Nero come bundled with your writer?

Sounds like your burner is newer than the proggy.
Go to Nero website and download the latest update to recognize your
    recorder. Won't hurt.

  6. I've decided not to use NERO at all. I've had success with VCDeasy which I created a working VCD, though I wasn't happy with the quality. I'm now trying to make a SVCD, I've encoded the MPEG2 file, but the trial version of VCDeasy won't let me import a MPEG2 file over 400mb.
Just another hurdle but it's all starting to make some kind of sense.
