  1. What exactly is HD-BURN?

The reason I'm asking is because I use CopyToDvd to burn my dvd backups and it has an option to support HD-Burn and its checked by default. I don't know what it does but I'd like to find out. The CopyToDvd help file says nothing about it.

    Thanks for the help.

btw, sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I didn't know where else to post it.

^^Thats a picture of the CopyToDvd settings.

When was that article written? Just wondering how long before this is in general use and firmware upgrades are available. Could a similar process apply to DVD?

  4. It's a fantastic technology, and about as useless as Sony's DD-CD format. Nothing like a disc that only works in the burner you burned it on.

    .indolikaa.
    I have HD-Burn

. But they are going to licence this technology to other major mfrs (ho-hum). Do these disks even work in sanyo dvd players??
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

  6. Well supposedly there was glory and fame for this format, since a simple firmware update to a DVD player would make HD-Burn work. But methinks Sanyo may have been asking for a steep royalty, since I haven't seen it listed on any of the newer machines...

Don't know about Sanyo DVD players, though.

  7. Thanks for the links and the info about HD-Burn.

Now, I just need to know what the "Support HD-BURN" option does in CopyToDvd.

also, does it only affect CDR's or does it do anything to DVDRs as well?

  8. HD-Burn is a CD-R technology.

I haven't seen it migrate to CD-RW yet, though Sanyo claims this is coming soon to 24X CD-RW. And, because of it's design purpose (to fill the gap between 700MB CDs and 1.85GB DVD-3 and 4.7GB DVD-5) and physical parameters it's not for DVD.

  9. Is there a way find out if my CD burner supports HD-Burn? A list perhaps?
