  1. I just purchased the DV-RW2...it's a pretty good unit except I am having problems playing the DVD-R's on my Sharp DV-710 set top player. Playback video and audio is choppy. I have tried burning in all quality formats with the same results in the other set top. I do have success playing burned movies from my pc (using a Pioneer drive) on the DV-710 set top unit. I have used Verbatim and CompUSA media.

Anyone know why my setup unit works fine w/ media created on my pc but not with DV-RW2 ?

Have you tried playing Hollywood-made DVDs on the DV-RW2? See if they play choppily (is choppily a word?). If they also play badly, it could be something simple like the laser lens has dust on it and needs cleaned.

  3. I believe that what you are experiencing is common issue with DVD Recorders and compatibility with some players. Best way to overcome this issue is record to rewritable media and re-author on PC. There was one post that I started anout same issue with Panasonic E30.

I use the excellent Sharp DV-RW2.
Never had any problem with it. All my recorded DVDs play well on my standalone Toshiba SD-2710 set top recorder. I think that your problem is about your player. Try other set top players. You should have an answer.
I also use Memorex DVD-Rs without any problem. Try a different brand of DVD-R than the one you use presently.

Try playing a disc in a friends player or take it to a store and try it on several players to be sure.
