Editing question with TMPGenc Author

I have just completed a trial of editing a clip using the above application.
The good news is that it worked great, with little or no loss in quality.

The question is: I noticed at the beginning of cuts the image doesn't just cut to the next image, but hangs around for a fraction of a second in a still mode. How can I produce smoother transitions? I do understand that this is not an editor like Screenblast MS, or others, but I would at least like to avoid the amateur-looking transitions if possible.

I was really hoping that there is a simple explanation for this....Am I doing something wrong?
