  1. I am about to give up. After many hardware changes and lots of money spent I have managed to capture a short movie using Studio DV Plus and have yet to be able to make the movie. Some error occurs every time-not always the same thing. If I try to output ti VHS it plays about 2 secs then hangs. If I make mpegs it hangs at a different place each time or the sound goes off. I'm using a Duron 700 with Jetway MB. 256MB RAM 40gb hard drive for capture SB Live Platinum sound card. I'm at my wits end. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I'm in the West Midlands, UK If anyone is nearby, Please come and have a go!!

  2. I wonder if you'll still check this... but,
depends on your system setup. I'm thinking that your hard drive shouldn't cause the computer program to hang, but you never know. The best drives to use for video are SCSI drives that are fast- i use 10,000 RPM SCSI U2W drives for my video and have never had a problem. I run a 1GHz Athlon, 512MB RAM, blah blah blah. I'm not sure if this is a software problem or a hardware problem. Respond to this message and let me know.
