  1. I have used a panasonic DMR-e50 to record from two different channels.
One broadcasts in 4:3 and one in 16:9. My ram disk has some dozen programs on it in these formats (all are in SP).

I now want to transfer to DVD-r on my PC - all the hardware is OK have burnt dozens of DVD-r disks.

I have tried to use TMPgenc author but this won't allow me to rip the tracks from the ram as they have mixed formats. I have no problems if the programs are all recorded from the same channel in 4:3 or 16:9.

My problem is only when I have mixed 16:9 and 4:3 - HELP............

Thanks for the reply and the tip.
HOWEVER..................I copied the .vro to the HDD and used MPEG-VCR as suggested - this did seem to provide a converted file - but with loads and loads of errors in it - ie vertical splits etc... this happened in all on the episodes on the RAM - I have tried all that I can think of......I have MPEG-VCR V3.14 - do I have some environment settings wrong? am I being stupid?

The ram disk still works great in the panasonic - At the point of xfer to HDD this is where the errors look like they are being introduced....HELP .....

    Any more ideas welcomed

    Regards

You should first change settings on your recorder so it doesn't switch between resolutions.

Go to SETUP/Picture option and change "Hybrid VBR Resolution" to FIXED.

If you have more than ONE recording segment on the RAM disc, use TMPGenc Author to import videos to your Hard Drive, from there on use Womble Mpeg-VCR for cutting.

  4. thanks again.

I have changed the settings on the DVD recorder to FIXED - time will tell if this sorts my problem.

I only have one .VRO file on the ram disk. When I import it using TMPgenc it throws up the mixed resolution probelm 4:3 and 16:9 as encountered in the previous posting you linked me to. When I do manage to copy (using drag and drop) then rename to mpeg format I only get the first track..........do i do this and delete each section on the panasonic until i have all episodes??? The problem is that when I drag and drop it takes all 4GB yet i only see the first 20 minute episode???? Oh I really am confused - looks like all episodes are there - but why can't I see them in anything other than tmpgenc - and this refuses to copy them???

It refuses to copy them because of the mixed resolution. Now that you've changed that option on your recorder it should import videos without any problem.

  6. Do the following on your panasonic recorder with the remote.

    Function
    Setup
    Picture
Change Hybrid VBR Resolution Automatic to FIXED!!!!!
