  1. I know that you can rip a dvd and only choose to rip the main movie with DVD Decrypter, my question is... Shouldn't I be able to import the movie into Recode, or DVD Shrink for that matter, after it's been ripped?

Or am I going to have to use a program like IFOedit to do something to the vob's first?

What I'm looking to do is rip the movie only and then, assuming that it is small enough to fit, use IMGtool to make an image of the files and then burn it. I'm trying to figure out if I can skip doing anything with the files in Recode or DVD Shrink.

Thanks, in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this for me.

My simple and most effective way...

In DVDDecrypter, rip via File mode, your DVD to hard drive. You should have a VIDEO_TS folder..DVDDecrypter defaults to file mode..

Chances are, that you'll need to shrink the folder after that..

Open up DVDShrink, then click the top button that says OPEN FILE (or similair to it), and then search for the first .IFO button within the VIDEO_TS folder that DVDDecrypter created for you. It'll take about 5 minutes after that...
Once that's done, click the big Backup button, and create a new VIDEO_TS folder somewhere else. This should be the folder that you're gonna burn with...

Since I'm using Nero Express, I simply go to DVD Video files, and drag n drop the newly created VIDEO_TS folder, and burn away...

Remember, use WinDVD to check that your VIDEO_TS folder plays correctly...This will let you sleep a bit better before burning and going to bed...

    Good luck!!!

No, you need to rip ALL the files for Shrink and Recode.
If you select the main movie (main VOB's and their single IFO file) you're gonna need DVD2One, it's the only one that can do it.

I understand what you want to do.

The movie is dual-layer but the main movie would fit on a DVDR and you want to rip the main VOB's and their IFO like this

You could recreate (the missing and corrected) navigation files with DVD Fab but if youre not familiar with this just load these files into DVD2One

BTW You can save the ripping procedure by running AnyDVD 3 in the background.
It removes every protections, region coding on-th-fly
