    NEEDS:

I want to backup movies from two different DVDs and reauthour for a DVD-r..

I therefore need to take one Titleset, and another Titleset, separate the elementary streams and reauthour them. (Preferrably with DVDLab)

Is it possible rip out the elementary stream of a titleset into one .m2v and .ac3 file?? Can I assume that the chapter points won't exist after this??

    Any links on how-to's??

    thanx....

  2. Yes it's possible.

With DVD-Lab import the VOBs into the Video&Audio section, when it asks if you want to demux, select YES.

Yes, but this way, you still have to join the VOBs, and there still might be extra baggage that I don't want..

I wanna be able to add a single .M2V and a single .AC3 for each Title Set, and reauthour with DVDLab, to create a totally new compilation.

Can DVDDecrypter extract a specific Title Set, and create my single .M2V and single .AC3 files??

Or am I asking for too much??

You can do this, both with DVDDecrypter or SmartRipper.

In DVDDecrypter it's done in IFO Mode. Once selected, DVDDecrypter shows the various titlessets on the DVD. If you need a whole VTS, select it by clicking on it.

If you need parts of if (some chapters) select them only and deselect the remaining ones.

Then, click to Stream Processing. Enable Stream Processing by checking the box and then check the streams you want.

Now, to ensure that each VTS will become a single file, go to Tools-->Settings, click on the IFO Mode TAB, and in Options, modify the file splitting to none. This will join the portions of the VTS from several VOBs into a single .m2v and a single .ac3 file.

Another option that is really good to check is :"Patch .m2v Timecode (00:00:00.00)". This will force the first frame of video in each VTS to have a timecode of 0:00:00. I've found several DVDs where timecodes are in mayhem and authoring tools can not properly line-up audio, video and subpictures.

Since the chapter information is actually a VOB feature, DVDDecrypter can generate an ASCII file (choose the one you like most) with the timing chart for each chapter. You can manually insert them into DVDLab yourself.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

Alrighty. I successfully ripped a .VOB set into single and whole elementary streams..
I did a compile within DVDLab, and found that everything played fine within WinDVD..
As soon as I forward, or skip to the next chapter, the sound is gone..

Should this be of any concern??

On a side note, when I right click on Elementary streams, everything worked out fine for demuxing, but when I chose to use the buttons instead, the .AC3 was still contained within the .VOB, and DVDLab wanted to Demux this stream..

Does this have any relation with my Audio acting funny on playback??

    Thanx.....
