  1. I have stripped the sound from a avi file. The sound contains spanish commentary but it is done on top of english commentary and natural sound.

I wish to remove the spanish commentary so I am left with the english commentary, or invert?? the sounds so that the english and natural sound is louder than the spanish language?

Can you anybody point me in the right direction of what to do and what audio editing software is best?

Cross your fingers and hope one language is one channel, and the other on the remaining channel.

Load the original video file into Gold Wave. If it shows two channel stereo select Edit-->Select channel-->left.

Select--Tools-->Device controls. A little sound player will appear. Press the Play button. If one language is heard, you're in luck so far. Press Stop.

Select Edit-->Select Channel-->Right. Press play on the player again. If the other language is heard, you've hit the jackpot. Select the channel with the language you do not want, and press the Delete key. This drives the selected channel's volume to zero.

Select the remaining channel, and Edit-->Copy. Select the "empty channel" and select Edit-->Mix. This copies the audio from your remaining channel to the "empty channel". Save as a wave file. Voilą!
