  1. Okay, I used the Big 3 Guide to encode my 3 hour Gladiator DVD which went very smoothly. The problem I am having is when I burn the files to my Ritek DVDs (have tried twice now!!) it won't play in my dvd player. This is the first DVD that I've had problems with and I know it's not the media because I use it all the time. The DVD starts to load (loads a 2 second black screen) and then starts to flash C 13 00 which means dirty disc. The weird thing is while the 2 second black screen is loading if I turn my fast forward knob the movie will start but I won't be able to go to the menu, fast forward, rewind, select different scenes, pause, etc. Instead, I'll just get the continuous flashing of the C 13 00 on my dvd player while the movie plays. While using IFOUpdate I updated the original IFO file: VTS_01_0.IFO and VTS_02_0.IFO (the second of which I never do...I have no idea why I did it anyway). This is the only thing that I did different from what I usually do (updating that second IFO file). If anyone has had a similar problem or know an answer as to how to fix this problem I'd appreciate it. The burned DVD plays on my computer too which makes me wonder why it won't play on my stand alone dvd player. Thanks for all your help!

I just dis a backup of The right stuff wich is over 3 hours and used dvdshrink, menus and all extras. Came out perfect. Are you trying to backup a two disk set onto a single disk? If it's a single disk, try shrink and use max compression for menus and extras. Works for me 100%. I also burn with nero directly through shrink.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  3. No this movie is too big in size. I don't care to use transcoders as they usually leave a lot of artifacts behind (especially with my XGA projector). I always use the Big 3 guide found at doom9's site and it's worked great up until now. I might encode the movie again in case I made a mistake somewhere. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Well, uh .... if your player will do DivX (like the Liteon DV-2002) you could use FairUse03 in the Tools section (https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=418#comments) I thought the quality was quite exceptional.

C 13 00?? Is your dvd player a sony by any chance??
My bro has this problem when he tries to play his back ups on his sony but they play faultlessly on other players.
Can you try the disc on another dvd player? even if its a ps2 or something just to double check??

  6. Yes I have a Sony DVD player. I haven't had this problem before and all of my backed up movies work fine. This is the only one that I am having issues with. The only other DVD player that I have is in my computer (burner and rom drive) and it works on them but that doesn't prove anything.

It proves that Sony are a little picky when playing DVDR, well in my experience at least.

My bro only gets that warning on cheap media but you are using Ritek so i dont know why...maybe you got a bad couple of discs in that batch?? Who knows??

Can you burn to RW or another brand of DVDR?

Its all i can think of mate...sorry. Hope you get it sorted.

  8. Well I am going to attempt to bring one of the two copies into work tomorrow and try it here. I actually went to Wal-Mart last night and got some RW discs to try it that way but got the exact same result. I'll see if it'll play on some other players and try to figure it out from there.

Bricktop, you might want to rethink your signature. To some it appears racist, and to others just offensive. You might miss out on some feedback that you would otherwise get. In anycase it puts a tag on your character, which might misrepresent who you really are. For whatever it's worth, FYI

Gritz - Sorry if my sig offends mate...its not intended. My board name is a character from one of my favourite movies and my sig one of his funny one liners (IMO). He has many 1 liners in the movie so i will consider changing to something else..was getting bored of that one anyway.
    Again sorry for any offese.

Actually, it's "But I got no time for Grasses". A Grass, in the UK, is an informant. Someone not to be trusted.

FYI One of my personal faves too.
