  1. Hm, seems like DVD-Recorders will put an end to the whole PC-video-capture-scene?

If I imagine recording the video via the DVD-Recorder, putting the disk in my DVD-ROM, ripping the DVD and that's it, I'd say: that's heaven

  2. Not quite that rosy.
First, you have to spend more than 3 grands to get it.
Second, you don't have the menu capability. Consumer type DVD recorders as I know today capture analog video (either via AV in or S-video), encode in real time to MPEG2 DVD format then write to the blank DVD-R media. How do you get menu with this ?
Third, most movies on DVD need more than 4.7GB , a blank DVD-R can only store 4.7GB.

With computer DVD recorder such as the Pioneer A03, you can use DVD authoring software to create the DVD you want. This means, video still need to be captured to PC first.
