What DVDRWs work with Philips DVDR70

Bought a 5-pack of TDK DVDRWs which, predictably, don't work (it can't read them)

Any ideas which DVDRWs might work??

I use Philips and BenQ +RW's in my old Philips 985 Recorder.

I have a Philips 985. Memorex, HP, Fuji, Optodisc, Philips, and several others, all work. I have never had a problem with any +RW brand that I have tried.

What do you mean by "it can't read them"? Does it say "no disc" or some other error when you put the disc in?

Yeah, it said "No disc". Is this probably, then, a case of an incompatible DVDRW as I hope or some sort of error with the DVD Recorder. Might I have more luck with DVDRs??

If you try to load a -RW (instead of a +RW) it will say no disc. Where were the TDK's made? Those made in Japan and Singapore are fine, but the ones made in Taiwan can be a bit unreliable.

I've used TDK (made in Japan & Singapore), Verbatim, and Imation. No problems in the DVR75.

Yeah, it's a DVD-RW, not a DVD+RW. Whats the difference?

the difference is your phillips is a +rw so there is no chance you can record onto a -rw it will play them but not record on to them

Philips DVD Recorders only record on +R and +RW discs.

Yep, you can only record onto +R/+RW discs as the Philips isn't a multi-format recorder. I've found in the past that TDK's made in Taiwan can be unreliable (in other +RW recorders at least). I've also found the same thing with +R TDk's made in Taiwan on the Panasonic E20. Just check where they're made before you buy.
