  1. Hi, I have a few mpegs that I'd like to remove part of the background or make it black. No cutting/joing, more like just editing the original video clip. What program works the best? I couldn't figure it out in Adobe Premiere. Thanx for any help

  2. so you want to black-out some of the background....let me guess.....in the background is either your mother-in-law or Ron Jeremy....?

anyway, if what you want gone is around the edges you may be able to delete by using a crop function available in several different editors.

Also....if the unwanted video object/s remains in a relatively static position throughout the video, you may be able to censor with some type of block editing function.

However, if what you want gone changes shape and posititon I suspect removing it may be rather complex. I'd anticipate an expensive editor and a steep learning curve. Maybe it's simpler then I think.

Perhaps it's easier to approach it from what you want to keep rather then what you want to eliminate.

I suppose you could open it with Virtualdub-mod and use something like Delogo or Logoaway filters, then frameserve to TMPGEnc for conversion back to mpeg. Logoaway will insert a coloured box or a "fuzzy" box over anything you like. It is static though and it's rectangular only. You could cut/clip at the same time.

  4. Well, I have After Effects and Premiere (don't know how to use them effectively though)

I don't even need to really remove it; perhaps just black it out some way...
