Is there any other advantage to changing the Phillips DVDR80 or the Cyberhome DVD 300 to region free besides being able to play PAL and NTSC ?
Thanks
Ken

Nothing to do with PAL or NTSC it is to do with the region the disc was created and the region your player/recorder is. In the USA it is R1 NTSC but Japan also use NTSC but are not R1 (not sure what region they are). In Europe it is R2 but some discs are PAL and some are SECAM. In Australia they use PAL but are R4 etc..
