I also have a card with the BT chipset. If you have the tweaked drivers for it, which is what you want, do yourself a favor and just toss any software that came with your card and just forget them. Go get the tried and true freeware stuff.

I have an AverTV Stereo PCI capture card (BT based) and when I installed the BTwincap driver my AverMedia capture software (which came with the card) stopped working but all other capture programs still work and the new driver is 100% better than the AverMedia drivers.

All I am trying to say is that reference drivers usually don't work with the "special" software that came with your capture card since that software is made to work with the dirver that came with your card and not the reference driver.

But for some reason the reference drivers ... such as BTwincap ... seem to work better.

If your using the btwincap drivers there is a prog at www.doom9.org that is supposed to allow those drivers to work with MoreTV. it's under the "Support Utils" and is called "BtWinCap Switcher". Don't know if it works or what it does but may be worth a look.

  5. thank you!!! switch controller works great, now I can use moreTV

But I have another problem with the new drivers. I guess I don't get them properly installed. I have an AverMedia TVCapture 98 (the one with remote control and no FM radio). After installing btwincap my system says there is new hardware found and tries to install again tvtuner and crossbar. I suppose it is due to bad tv tuner brand and model chosen during installation of btwincap, but i've tried with autodetect. Can anybody help me?

I had that happen to me too.

I have an AverTV Stereo PCI capture card.

After installing the BTwincap drivers everytime I re-booted the computer it would tell me there was new hardware. I have a DIR on the HDD with the AverMedia drivers so I just pointed to there and it installed who knows what and now it works.

The crossbar works but I don't use the tuner I only use the composite video input.

BTwincap drivers work much better with this card. Capture at 712x480 and either crop to 704x480 or pad it up to 720x480

That way gives you a perfectly framed image of the original.

I posted this little story elsewhere a couple of weeks ago:
I had a Avermedia card for a long time (bt878) (win98se and xp) but unfortunately started getting a hiss on one channel (look like a hardware problem but that's another story).
Just like MK_ULTRA the main benefit that I found was that I had a greater range of resolutions available to me. When I used the official Avermedia drivers I would often get messages that the card could not capture at certain resolutions but all that cleared up when I used the btwincap drivers.
About 10 months ago after testing some other drivers in xp, I too had problems reinstalling the btwincap drivers even when I did it manually. I had downloaded a new version from the site but it would never find the tuner even when I used the default phillips. I had an older version of the installer on cd from about 2 years ago and used that to reinstall and it worked perfectly. I think the newer version has some problem installing the avermedia mono/ stereo cards
This problem seems to be quite common. The current inf files are either incomplete or incompatible with avermedia cards. The tuner never seems to install properly even if you edit the install manually and choose the phillips which should work with Avermedia.
My card is packed away and the cd with the old install is somewhere in my hundreds of cds so it's not readily accessible.
Try to get an older version of the install from the btwincap site. I know that they work 100%. Like FulciLives says the Btwincap drivers allow full (and odd size) resolution captures which even the newest Avermedia drivers choke on.
