    Is there any recommends to a good DVD writer that's not too expensive but works pretty well?

    If you want the best burn quality on the media and the best value for your money, and, the ability to burn on any media, even cheap media, then go for NEC 2500. No question it is the best choice right now. Newegg has them for $114 now with free shipping.
