Just got an e-mail from 321Studios, the outfit that bought DVD Complete from Dazzle and renamed it DVD X Maker.

They've just announced that owners of Dazzle DVD Complete can now upgrade to DVD X Maker for free. Just send 'em your name, address, phone, and current DVD Complete serial number.

    Details can be found here:

    http://www.dvdxcopy.com/maker_upgrade.asp

Thinking DVD Complete development was dead, and not seeing authorized upgrades to DVD X Maker before now, I uninstalled DVD Complete from my system a few months back. Right now I don't know whether I can install the DVD X Maker upgrade on my system as-is, or if I'll have to reinstall DVD Complete first. I asked 'em that in my e-mail to them. If anyone's interested, I'll post whatever answer I get.

  2. Bob , thanks for the info. I also requested the upgrade. The following was on their upgrade page concerning removing DVD Complete.

"Since DVDXMAKER™ uses the same system files as DVD Complete, the user will need to uninstall DVD Complete before installing 321 Studios DVDXMAKER™! "

    Hi Ed,

Have you heard back from 321 yet? I requested my "instant" upgrade the same day I posted the above info, but haven't gotten a reply yet.

    Thanks,

I got an email the next day and downloaded the new version from 321 but havent installed yet. I think they also send you a physical CD copy also.

Anything special about the 321 version? Or, is it just an update to DVDComplete.

Far as I can tell, the only visible difference is instead of C:\Program Files\DVD Complete, it installs into C:\Program Files\321Studios\DVDXMaker.

I haven't had a chance to actually try it yet. I'll comment when I do.

(needless to say, 321 answered me and I've downloaded my copy)

  8. That is good news. DVD complete was my favorite DVD Authoring program. I am glad to find out that it is being brought back to life.
