I've been a DVDShrink fan since the beginning, and loved 3beta5, but recently had a problem with 3.1.4. I open the disk and deep analysis says it's going to take 11 hours to do its thing. I cancel deep analysis and try to transcode. It also wants to take 10+ hours. I open 3beta5 which I still have on my machine and it says it will take less than 50 minutes for the same movie. I've tried 2 different movies with the same result. Do I have to uninstall 3beta5 for 3.1.4 to work properly? Any ideas welcome.

Odd,I'm not a fan of DVD Shrink but I find 3.1.4 to be faster than 3.0. I doubt un-intalling will help because 3.0 doesn't use use an installer.
In 3.1.4 in preferences did you check "run analysis in babckground"?
It's should be checked by default. -
Thanks for the suggestion, Wulf, but I already had "run analysis in background" checked. Other settings look OK too. I'm stumped!

11 hours sounds like more serious problems than a revision change - I don't use DVD Shrink often, but I think the longest even a deep analysis has taken from an encrypted disc was probably no more than about 45 minutes... are your drives set to (U)DMA and not PIO for example ?

One small thought--what's your box look like--processor, memory, hard drive(s)?

No I had it checked. I'll uncheck it, but I don't think that's the problem. I've also been reading the posts on the DVDShrink.info site, and I'm not the only one with this problem. It seems there is a conflict with Nero 6, and when you uncheck the "burn with Nero" option, it has solved the problem for some people. Not for me however, I use Nero 5 and unchecking that option made no improvement, so I'll probably continue to use 3beta5 until the next release comes out.
Thanks to all who tried to help.

garryheather asked a pertinent question:
are all your drives including the dvd rom set to DMA? -
Sorry, for got to answer that.
Yes, all drives and both my DVD drives are set to DMA.
