Im using Verbatim 4x that burn at 8x. However it does 33% of the disc at 4x, 33% at 6x and the remaining at 8x. I asume that real 8x media will be written in te same manor. If you look on the data area on the disc you can see three distinct rings where the different burn speeds have written.
After playing one of these discs in my standalone you cant see the transitions between the 4x,6x and 8x areas on the disc and the 8x areas play as good as the 4x area.
So my question is is there any firmware/cracks to write at 8x from the start with these discs. Do the other 8x writers start at 8x?

The 2500A uses CLV-Z so it is set to start at 4 then to 6 then to 8
There won't be a hack. Some of the other 8 speed writers jump from 4 to 8 (missing 6) hence they burn slightly faster
