Is pinnacle studio the only solution for me capturing with my DVC150. I can't find a capture software that supports it.

Scenalyzer Live ( SCLive for short) should work like a charm for you.
or, if you wanted to go the free route. You could just use a program like WinDV... small, free, easy. Then edit the captured avi in whatever program you want. -
If you're not having trouble then you won't gain anything by using a different programme (you are talking about firewire transfer, right?).
Saying that, if you do want a switch, don't want to pay and not worried about a preview then DVIO might be for you.

no, my DVC150 isn't firewire, it's USB2, so those programs don't works, thanks for tring though
