  1. would it be ok to author a vcd or svcd with the framerate set to 30fps instead of 29.97?
I don't know what the difference would be between the two, but many of the sources i'm converting from say 30fps, so, if i could encode at 30fps, then i assume it would not have to do any frame rate conversion?
i'm just wondering if i would run into any incompatibility issues or anything.
i would like to make discs that are standard, therefore most likely to work in a set top dvd player

    umm, thanks . . . .

  2. to be standard it MUST be 23.976 or 29.97 fps for NTSC. No more, no less. Will 30fps work fine on your dvd player? I don't know.. But my dvd player will play anything, just for S&G I gave it a 1fps at an insanely high bitrate (14000) burned at svcd resolution, burned on a dvd with no authoring and it worked fine... just depends on the player.

but stick with the standards. If you just tell tmpgenc to encode it as a 29.97 you should have no problems.
