  1. Okay. This might be an obvious question, but, I have an .avi on a cd-rom. I use Windows Explorer to copy the file to my hard drive, however, the file quits after approximately 60% and tells me "cannot copy file - invalid MS DOS operation". On another occasion, it told me I had a CRC error. I can watch the entire .avi on media player, so I can't figure out why I can't just copy it to my hard drive.

  2. try opening the avi through virtualdub, then do a direct stream copy (video/audio) save to a location on your harddrive.

  3. Thanks for the quick reply! I tried that before, and I just tried it again with the settings you suggested. At frame 90942, I get the error message, "Error streaming AVI : Data error (cyclic redundancy check). Any ideas? I also tried a few avi fixit programs, but they don't save to a new file, they try to fix the original on the cd, which gives me the error that it is a read only file.
