I am trying to back up a copy of one of my personal DVDs using Shrink, 3.1.4. I am using a Pioneer 105 DVD Rom and Plex PX708A writer with a Verbatim +R disc (recommended by Plextor). No programs are running in the background during the ripping, preferences are set to low priority mode, preview disabled, deep analysis, full disc copy, original disc is clean and scratchfree. Here's the problem, I have tried to rip this disc 4 times now, twice Shrink stopped at 7% stage of analysis, once at 13% of analysis stage, and the 4th time it stopped at the 24% stage of analysis. When Shrink stops it locks up my computer completely to the point of having to reboot. I then backed up the copy with CloneDVD/AnyDVD with no problem in 33 minutes start to finish. I prefer Shrink's quality over CloneDVD but can't get it to work. Can anyone suggest what may be wrong or what I can do to correct this problem. I really appreciate your reply and advice. Thank you.

The only sugestion I can make is to use DVDDecrypter to transfer your files to the hard disk (be sure and select ALL FILES in the File Mode), then open Shrink and go from there. If you have the same problem with DVD Decrypter check to see that the region is properly set on your DVD Rom, that your aspi is properly installed and the DMA is on. Lastly there have been several tips from ddlooping to uncheck the "allow Nero" in the preferences menu for Shrink. Hope this helps

candsh thank you for the reply. Unfortunately your suggestions are already being done, guess I will just have to use decrypter, just really hate having to go thru 3 steps just to back up a dvd.

gosh what a laziness LOL :>
how about making a call to the studio who release it and tell them to stop using DVD-9s and encrypt discs for your convenience?
Gotta pick up the phone... find the phone # first... too much work I guess?
