  1. I am using ffmpegx to convert at .asf file to .avi. I am able to convert the file no problem, but when I try to open it in quicktime I get an error message stating "can't open .avi because the movie contains and incorrect duration". Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make this work?

try it with VLC or MplayerOSX and see if it just plays back at all!

  3. it plays back with mplayer OS X, but at a very quick speed and no audio. Any suggestions on getting the audio back into the file? It opens and plays no problem with windows player for mac, but obviously that does me no good when trying to work with the file in imovie. if i can play it with mplayer os x should i thus be able to convert it to quicktime?
    Thanks for the help

I'm also experiencing that same problem, so it's not just an isolated problem.
