  2. they are moody. sometimes they reply within seconds (with usually a form letter that means nothing). at other times, they simply ignore letters. Like the ones asking about a new 0301 firmware upgrade for 2001 and 2002 models.

  4. I contacted PCclub and Newegg today and neither of them had any information from Lite-on as to when the 2010 would be available. I guess the January timeframe is out the window...

  6. Can't wait to get my hands one on one. Wonder what'll cost?

  7. frankly, I'm sick of Lite-on not releasing the next firmware. First, they were supposed to release one in late last year. Then, they said they are planning to release it in Feb 2004. Well, it's last day of Feb. Nothing!

I got my 2002 during last year's thanksgiving. It's a nice player, but no sub, flat mp3 directory/file list prolem's been sticky point.

I'm losing my faith from Lite-on. I'm looking into building my first HTPC using one of those mini pcs. it will be heck of better than what 2002 or 2010 will do. yeah yeah it will cost 3 times more, but I need a new pc anyway and 2002 isn't cutting it. I'm sick of reencoding.

  9. buy this piece of crap and be out of luck in 3 months when they release their newer player and forget you in oblivion.

version 3 firmware still show in their page as to be releeased late 2003 (november to be precise)
still no subs or better mp3 selection menu.
    still no reply from them.
and no news about an update.

they just USED us customers to get feedback of bugs and improvements to be made so they could release the 2010 and increase the price.

now we guinea pigs are just sitting here with a player that most of us bought because of liteon fame of upgrading firmwares constantly and totally dissapointed for lack of support so far.
ive only have mine for 4 months and i feel like my beta vcr has more support :S

lets wait and see how many weeks can you keep your 2010 without them releasing the 2012 or 2025 or something.

i only hope the 2010 firmware can be used in 2002 to gain subs support i dont care much about the rest of features that were in beta3 fw.

  10. Download The La(te)st Firmware
There will be no future firmware release for (phased out) LVD-2001.
    http://www.liteonit.com/DC/english/download/2001.htm
    It's called 0302, does ogg/Folder structure support
and there will be no further updates.
    I'm selling mine.

Any news about the 2010? It looks great and it does CD-ROM.
Does that mean it reads 'em ou that it plays 'em?

  11. EatMoreChickens, did you actually see it? I can't find any place selling it.

    Never minds about CDROM.
The user manual says it can't handle 'm, as I expected. This user manual is a real Liteon-jewel. It is unreadable as the 2001 manual was. I'll try to disgest it into something readable.
But it still seems a nice piece of equipement.

    He He... LieOn

Maybe they read all the angry posts here and realized they can't sell this turkey (2010) with no DivX support (only XviD) and almost twice the price of the 2002!

That's the first time I've heard of a company discontinuing a product before it's even released - must be a new record, even for LieOn

Can't wait to see what they come up with next...

  15. This model had been discontinued, by the manufacturer. My source tells me that there is going to be a souped up 2020 out in the 3rd quarter, but Liteon will not be shipping the 2010. (this is not a rumor, I confirmed that the retailer had actually spoken with Liteon)

    Whew. I'm glad I bought my 2002 & I'm lovin' it!!!

  16. Why didn't Divx approved the player?
I mean, why is the new unit not Divx certified?

I have the LVD 2002 and although it's giving me more problems now after the new updated (like the unit just freezes if I press stop on a Divx movie) I love it.
