Perhaps I'm missing the obvious, but I'm trying to create an AVI file out of five small VOB files and just want something cheap and cheerful.

Downloaded Joy DVD Ripper but it took longer than the 5-min trial, and occasionally it even threw up an error message so I don't want to buy it without trying it if it's going to do that.

I downloaded VirtualDubMod but for the life of me I can't see how to take all five VOB files and make it create them into one AVI (Joy DVD Ripper was doing this fine until the five minutes kicked in). I can load in VOB files separately or bring up the Capture Mode, but just can't work out what to do next

    Thanks in advance,

  2. Isn't that what Flaskmpeg is for ? I didn't know VirtualDub can read VOBs but there is an "append" function in the menu for joining clips, try that.

Edit: Did you read this ?

Whoops, meant to put it in "DVD to DVDR" as it was about ripping VOBs (albeit home-made ones)

    Baldrick, please accept my ap-ol-o-ggees

I didn't at the time, but before I saw that just now I saw your mention of Flaskmpeg which I hadn't heard of before and that did what I was after perfectly. Cheers.

  6. dude, screw the joy ripper garbage. DVD Decrypter is 110% FREE nd does an awesome job, and is very easy to use. Use that to rip your vobs. To load your vobs in V Dub, try frameserving using DVD2AVI and AviSynth. Gordian Knot does it all for you and includes all 4 of these softwares. and it is also FREE! Save yourself a headache and some money and use something that works!

Thanks for the tip. I'm using DVD Decrypter quite often now (so I should make a donation really, even though it's free technically), but that's when I create a DVD of stuff from TV onto a DVD+RW that I then want to keep on a DVD-R.

However, the creation of an AVI was just for game footage that I then wanted to create an AVI of which I was going to upload to my website (with the permission of the relevant companies of course) but that's possibly not a workable option as the AVI files are about 1Mb/minute (might be able to reduce this, but so would the quality) and if lots of people started downloading that then it would cripple the bandwidth
