This was driving me crazy. I was getting problems with framerate stutters and occasional pixelation. I must of wasted at least 12 DVDs. I have been a big fan of Nero, ever since their stuff first came out and never suspected that their new version was the cause. Of course, my first suspect was the media. But I have been using Ritek G03, Princo, & Verbatim and thought it too odd that all would have so many bad discs in each batch. I have used the same batch before and never had a problem with Nero 5.5. So what did I do? I first tried other burning software such as Roxio and got a good burn. After several good burns, I determined that Nero 6 was at fault and uninstalled it and reinstalled Nero 5.5. I've had no problems since then and emailed Nero letting them know what went on.
Anybody else had problems with Nero 6.302?

How do you burn a DVD with Roxio? (i.e. what buttons and options do you select?) ANd what options were you using in Nero 6 (the ones you say caused you bad burns)?

I ripped/compressed a movie using DVD X Copy and burnt with Nero 6.3 - and the result was not working well on my computer. I had troubles with the subtitles, freezing and stuttering. But the same thing was working just fine in a stand-alone player. Go figure.

I think I am having problems with 6.3 right now.. I'll downgrade back to 5.5 and see if that works.

I've never moved away from 5.5.
It's always worked for me, and until such time that I NEED to upgrade (like a new recorder that's not supported by 5.5), I don't see the point in forking out money for something I've already got and works perfectly.
As with any new software, you can expect bug fixes, and Nero 5 is pretty stable to most accounts. I certainly have never had any problems with it that weren't of my own making (like crappy authoring practice). -
I agree with garryheather although I did just install Roxio 6 and tested it for a friend (it worked fine).
My process of choice is Shrink 3.14 ripping, encoding, with an automatic burn using Nero 5.5.10.28. One step process, never a coaster. Had good luck with Decrypter and DVD2One also but like the one step setup, click, and walk away. -

Nope! Had perfect result other than an occassional problem atributed to bad media.
I also never create back up files that fill the disk to the edge. Bad practice and can possibly give problems at the end of a movie even on premium disks.

Nero 6+ seems to need patches but Nero 5.5+ do not but it might not recognize the new writers.
Can also be that you have too many writing programs.
