assemblage, you are a hyprocrite apparently. You couldnt resist taking a jab at me and hex. So, you have just joined in the puke on this thread. You should have just spoke ur piece and left me and hex out of it.
    Hypocrite.

The whole point was to say that some memorex arent worth buying as u never know what u will get.

Brand means nothing. MEDIA ID means everything.
May other CMC users are crap too, not just Memorex. Try Verbatim, Philips and KHypermedia for more junk CMC users.

  4. I have burn many many many many dvds already, 1000+, never run into a coaster. I have tried the cheapest dvd you can get on the market, the compusa crap, platinum from mirocenter, khypermedia from omax, princo from various suppliers on the net, etc..... never never have problem. Heck, I even got lots of those longen01 (matrix) 1-2x and burn them at 4x, not a problem.

If you have a good dvd writer, I used the nec 1300 external, now I use the liteon 851s, and good software, I used copy2dvd & dvd decrypter, you won't have problem w/ any of these media.

So stop whining about bad media, or bashing the name. If you want good, reliable, and the best, spend more and buy Taiyo Yuden brand, there you will guarantee top notch quality that you can get on the market. Lots of them rebadge by verbatim, so knock yourself out.

If I get the Ricoh (Memorex) stuff from Amazon, I will jump up and down happy. I have burn lots of Fuji, Memorex, Imation, whom are rebadge Ricoh, at 8x and the kprobe graph of these dvds are beautiful, well under the spec.

REMEMBER, What you pay, usually, is what you get............ STOP all the negativity, we get that from work, the boss, the wife, and the kids already, this forums stuff suppose to be a hoppy, means FUN!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody else buy from Amazon, please confirm the code ricoh or cmc for dvd+r.
    TQ

When did you buy? They are now $85 and now I'm afraid they are not Richo but CMC. That's why they droppe dthe price but then again I'm not sure.
When did you buy and how it looks? Was it printable? What color is it on the label?

  7. My oold roommate bought 100 of the memorex -r's from amazon, they worked great on his and my machine, both with a sony510a. Had 2 coasters. I bought 200 he bought 100 more. I got one good burn out of 30 something tried, every program I could get my hands on. I ordered the +r's from amazon bout 2 weeks ago. 96 good burns, I still have 4 left at home. I know some people have good luck with the cmc. I certainly didn't. The +r's were ricoh.

Since people were saying the newer +r's from amazon are cmc, I went back and will stick with ritek. If anyone knows different about the +r''s please post.

  8. I've had CMC and RicohJPN Memorex dvds....+ and - ....IMHO they're total junk. Wasted over a hundred dollars learning that lesson. Should've listen to my friend in Connecticut who told me of all his problems with memorex. I didn't as soon as I saw a sale on amazon I bit the bullet and thought what the heck.

For those who have success with memorex....that's wonderful. As for me though I'll stay far away indefinitely.

I am going to say this one more time. Yes, I have used memeorex in the past and yes I have had good success witht them. I have also had coasters with them as well.
What I am saying is that, with all the Brand names out there available in a local store, memorex is the name that pops up more often as being bad. take that for what u want. Most of my memorex have been great, some bad. maxell, fuji, tdk, imation have ALL been GREAT.
Again, maybe its in the way memorex ships and stores their media. Who knows.

Are you sure the newer Memorex from Amazon is CMC, which is now on sale for $85? That's all I need to know. If it's CMC, I will cancel since they didn't ship yet. If it is Richo, I buy it.

Arhhh... How do I know whether the "current" Memorex 100 +R from Amazon is Richo or CMC?

How do you guys know who originally produced the blank DVD-r's or DVD+r's. Ricoh, CMC? Do the other companies buy them from these companies?

  12. Do you know if this is Richo or CMC? Is this CMC or RIcho? It is black base but has a thin ring. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000ET93T/qid=1078700907//ref=pd_ka_2/0...onics&n=507846

  13. Based on the picture it would be CMC. Just because thats the picture they used doesn't mean thats how the disc they have will look.

  14. Ok I have purchased 200 Memorex DVD-R CMC branded from Best Buy (4 50 packs) and had no problem with the burning of 150 of them. I ordered the 100 DVD-R Printable tops from J&R for the $100 bucks, they were also CMC. So far burned 19 and had 19 new coasters. Trying to send them back to Memorex. So I guess I have had mixed luck with them. Going to try the Maxell DVD-R Printable tops.

  16. In case anyone stills cares the dvd+Rs that were $84.99 last week were indeed RICOHJPNR01 (purple media-white printable top). At least my spindle of 100 were. They came with the purple wrap that says... Printable DVD+R--For use with INKJET Printers... along with the other 4X stuff. They burned flawlessly for me on a TDK 840G at 8X. This included straight 4.17GB or better data burns in under 8min. They also burn at 8X using DVD Shrink and Nero 6.3(no coasters out of 24 so far). I can't give a speed on Xcopy express but they burn a hell of lot faster than the 2.4 and 4Xs I was using before. I can't say if the DVD-Rs they offering now are going to be as good, or if the next batch of +R 4Xs will be the same; but, for what it's worth these +purples are great. Info below.

It slipped to a 3rd page for a good reason. You can buy better media, also 4x inkjet, at a lower price. This is an average offer.

I totally agree...I have had a pretty high burn rate with Memorex CMCs but a little higher rate with Maxells

    scopop.
I too am looking for +R as I am spoiled burning at 8x even though i can burn -R.

Ive looked high and low and ur correct about the taxes and shipping charges, they cant compare to these memorex Ricoh discs.

Ive seen some opto discs at about .85 per disc but then u have shipping for about 7 or 8 dollars and it just isnt worth it compared to getting ricoh discs with memorex.

Ive went thru 200 of these so far and not one coaster, plus I am awaiting my third pack of 100 spindles any day now...free ship 3-days.

If anyone knows of a better price for the same quality then Im all ears(eyes).

I dont think moving on to something else is the answer. Like I said, burned 200 and not one coaster. You best find the problem , but it aint the media.
200 dvd+R inkjet printable $99.99 free fast shipping and no coasters!.
Now somebody find me some GOOD +R printables for less and I'll buy em.

Then move on, but move on to a different burner. These burn just fine at 8x.
