i have ATI rage with vid in
i can capture vid with ATI multimedia softwere that came with it to make a AVI file
but i cant capture the sound
i can hear the sound via line in adn then played though my sound card
i can capture the sound with windows sound recorder
to make a WAV file
but how do i combine them both
or can you tell me how to capture both in one file
do i need difrent software or what
just point me in the right direction PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

I haven't done any video/audio capturing, so not sure about saving the avi with audio. But as for joining the two I know you can use VirtualDub to join the two. If you are lucky, you won't have any synch propblems.
Open up virtualdub, open up your vid file and then select your filters/compression/etc. then go to audio -> wav file. Select the wav and then you can do direct stream processing or full processing mode (which will let you compress the wav to mp3, or some other format).
Encode a couple minutes see if the audio syncs. If not then first try this in virtualdub. Goto video -> frame rate. At the top of the dialog you will 3 radio buttons. Select the bottom one (it says something along the lines of change frame rate to match audio). Re-encode again. If it works great if not you'll have manually sync.
