SIZE does matter

Please forgive me if I've missed this in the FAQs and kindly direct me to the proper source to read if this question is covered elsewhere. With that, here's the question.

I'm using the ATI all in wonder, have all of the latest updates installed as far as drivers and such. My Card came with Pinnacle Studio 8 and also Sonic MyDVD.

I have used both successfully, but as I said, I'm having a problem with file size.

When I capture in the ATI TV tuner, Sonic MyDVD is very picky about file size. I'm having to keep my movies to 2.5 gig and below in order to burn them in Sonic MyDVD. Anything larger and it won't accept the file once it is transferred. The burn button is deactivated.

I've tried authoring a few in Pinnacle but the render time in the Make Movie section takes forever. Is there a faster method of burning an MPEG in Studio 8 that is captured in the ATI TV Tuner? I don’t care to author and add chapters. With the speed of my DVD fast forward and rewind, that’s not a real priority. I just want to be able to burn the MPEG I’ve captured without having to render or reduce the file size which reduces the quality. I know from reading on this site that many recommend keeping file size below 4 gig, but I’m not able to get anywhere close to that with the programs I’m using.

Any suggestions. I know there are other programs that folks here recommend, but I'm about tapped on the $$$$ end of this hobby for now.

I am not certain this is going to help but it is some different ideas.
First, I have in the past not gotten the full up product when it was bundled as a promo with another item that I was buying. Might want to check the full capability specs of your software.
Second, I could not tell if you are using FAT32 or NTFS. There is a significant difference there WRT file size capabilities.
Lastly, not having ever used either of your software products, it is hard to tell what is going on behind the scenes as they do their jobs. For example, they may be creating background temporary working files such that when the job is finished these temp files are then deleted. These could be chewing up your file space at the same time as it is trying to produce your final file. You might also want to verify that your trash can is totally empty. Since it also consumes precious space.

One last data point, does Sonic burn data files as well as video files? If so, you could try burning a purely data file and see if it really is a file size issue.
