  1. Hello, I am a newbie to the whole DVD authoring thing here and I need a little help with my DVDs. I shelled out the money for TMPGenc plus and the TMPGenc DVD authoring program and for the most part with the help of these forums figured a lot of it out. Anyway enough of the introduction here is the problem I'm having. I don't really know how to describe what I did so I made little screen shots of what I did to give a better idea of what is going on.

I'm trying to burn a bunch of anime .avi files I got onto DVDs. I figured out the audio problems but the video is another story. Here is the GSpot info for the file I'm working on now.

Now when I play it on a stand alone DVD player on a normal TV the edges of the screen are cut off. This is a problem because the subtitles are cut off the bottom of the TV screen. Here are the settings that I used.

I have read something about TV over scan and wondered if that might be the cause of the problem.
When the video is encoding and the previews both look fine. And so does when I play the DVD on the computer as well. Any help with this problem would be most appreciated.

  2. You are right, its overscan that is causing your problem.

The solution (well, one possible one) is to use the Video arrange method of Centre (custom size) in TmpGenc. Set a size that will leave a border of 8 or 10 pixels all around as a starting point. Depending on your TV you might want more or less border.
