I must be really stoopid. I have tried for a couple of weeks to find a guide or a program to write my own subtitles (closed captions) for my homemade dvd productions. I want to create the subtitles and make them appear when the subtitle option is chosen (menu option selected or button on remote is pushed) or not be there if that option is not selected. I have tried Subtitle Studio and subtitle workshop and cannot get to the first step.
(I have created a video with a music (song with lyrics) bed and want viewers to be able to read the words the first few times they watch it (to learn the words and understand them) and then have it clean if they choose (after they have learned the words)).
Can anyone tell me how to do this?
TIA..rw

You need a dvd authoring tool with selectable subtitle support
https://www.videohelp.com/tools?toolsearch=§ion=&orderby=Name&listby=Section&convert...+or+List+tools
most are expensive tools but ifoedit with srt2sup is freeeee but kinda complex. (click on srt2sup for some guides).
