  2. You might be pushing it on the disc space if you decrypt a DVD-9 to your hard disc and then compile a disc for a blank, when you're talking about 14Gb total, but there are solutions around that in most cases.

If you're wanting to do editing of home movies, that space will disappear very, very quickly indeed.

the 128 memory might slow you down, but it will work. as for the 15 gigs, that will work. using a progam like dvdshrink, you would need 5 gigs, but in other programs that you have to rip to the hard drive first, 15 would be the lowest limit of what you need, since some discs can have almost 10 gigs by themselves

If you are just making backup copies of DVD's using a program like DVDshrink you would probably be OK. But if you are planning on editing and encoding DVD's from video files, you should consider some upgrades. Most important would be your CPU speed. Usually anything faster than a 2G processor is recomended, along with 512M memory and a 60-80G HD. Really depends on what you want to do with your computer.

    1) 128mb of RAM will work, but it will be excruciatingly slow when processing video stuff. As red suggested....at least 512mb of RAM is the least I'd have.

    2) The 15gb free HD space will prolly work. I have about 25gb free on the HD I use and have no problems at all, but I defrag regularly to make sure I have plenty of available space. If I merely had 15gb free, I'd invest in a 40gb slave for video stuff only. They are inexpensive these days.
