  1. I ran Clone v 1.3.1.2 (with Any DVD 3.2.1.1) for the first time with a +RW (wanted to check it out without making coasters), and it ran flawlessly. I then copied a DVD onto a Laser DVD-R 4x and again it was great. I am using a Liteon 451S burner (running under XP Professional), and was initially setting it at 2x burn speed.

Since then it reads the DVD, and after I put in a blank disc, it does the "erasing" thing for what seems like a long time (more than the first two copy's ±15 secs), and then starts "writing", but shows no progress (0%) for a couple of minutes and then spits out the disc saying that it is unusable. The disc surface shows a very small written section and is now a nice shiny coaster.

I caught one disc after the long "erasing" just before it wrote, and copied onto it using Nero and it was fine.

I don't understand why Clone did the first two discs with no problems and the next 5 (using various different settings like speed etc, and 2 different versions, with computer re-boots in between etc) were coasters.

I now use Clone to "rip" to hard drive, and then Nero to burn to DVD-R at 4x which works great, but it is not as simple as using Clone. It is a pity because it is a great little programme.

If anyone has encountered this before or can help, I would appreciate it, since using Clone is a simple one stop way of copying disc to disc.

I would suggest trying the older version of cloneDVD (1.2.8.4)....

Worked for me when I had an issue with freezing and pixelization in backups...

    Can't hurt to try it
