  1. I am completly new to this whole extracting, encoding, etc. Iam not what you call "computer smart" so I'm not sure if I'M not doing something right or what. I have some video files that I've been trying to burn using VirtualDub,TMPGEnc, and VCDEasy. In vd I keep getting a message about improper VBR audio encoding in AVI file. I have no idea what this means or how to fix it. Like I said I'm new at this and have trouble understanding it all. Could someone help me with this so I can understand what to do.

  2. Your description "video files" or "AVI" needs to be further defined. If you are not sure, use Gspot to get source file details for both video and audio characterisitcs.

VBR audio means variable bit rate. Depending on what kind of a cd/dvd you wanted to burn, your encoding apps were telling you that the source file's audio was not going to meet needed standards.

For standards, see l/h column of this page at the top. Also consult Glossary for definitions of new/strange terms.

Once you have details of what you have vs. what you will need, then do a search of the l/h column guides for help/info. Repost if you get stuck again.

    Good luck.

In vd I keep getting a message about improper VBR audio encoding in AVI file.
In those circumstances, I take a look under File Properties to see what codec is used for audio, usually MP3.
Then I set Audio - Direct Stream copy and save wav. Then rename the output according to what it is (???.wav to ???.mp3 if it's mp3).
Then use a good decoder to convert to wav.
When encoding, I use this wav as audio source, and the original AVI as video source.
