  1. Hi there,

    just a simple question:
Is it possible to create something like
"please insert Disc2" at the end from VCD-Part 1?
Would be great if it is possible cause it would just look better instead of freezing Screen.

Is it possible e.g. with Nero to do something like this?
    Thanks in advance

i suppose u could make ur own mpeg file that said "Please insert Dics 2" and then add it on at the end of the first part of the video, thats seems to be the simplest way to do it for me.

    Yes you can:

Download jasc paintshop pro and make a logo or whatever you want to make it look like.

take any mp3 or sound clip and load it into tmpge with the soundclip encode it so that it is at least 10 seconds long and then demultiplex it then remane the outro.m1v(or m2v) to outro.mpg. then either merge them or add it as the second track on your vcd.

if you have any questions email me.

  5. If you have a movie editing program it usually will allow you to import a .bmp file - you can choose the length you want it to run for and export to mpg or avi.

So just create something in a image editor like PS, Paintshop Pro or even MS Paint, save the bmp and load it up in your movie editor.

I VERY quickly made a short clip - took about 5 minutes, so don't expect too much here You're welcome to use it - http://edit.briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/jimmijames1/lst?.dir=/My+Documents

Let me know if the link doesn't work

  6. TMPGenc can convert jpg & bmp to MPG. Either stills or motion MPEG.

  8. Use my high res VCD stills tutorial:
    http://www.geocities.com/mikk999/VCDStills.htm

it looks a bit better when you have a high res still. the audio is a bit more complicated when dealing with stills. i'll add the audio part to the tutorial soon.

  9. i wanna share with you guys what i did with my simple menues. disc 1,I made an intro using paintshop with some background on it that says like this "Encoded by .....pls. press next to continue". that would be my first track.I added a music to go with it by using tmpgenc. On the VIDEO
click on the file where you stored your bmp or jpg file, on the AUDIO,click on the file where you saved your sound file and the length of this intro depends on the length of your sound and hit ENCODE. Now repeat these steps for your third track of your cd. When burning, drag your first mpg file (intro), followed by your movie file and followed by your third file (please insert disc 2). you can merge your 2nd and 3rd track by using tmpgenc too. in this way, you won't have a gap on your 2nd and 3rd tracks. it's easy.

  11. You don't really need a mpg file to insert a "Please insert disk 2" screen. I used a bmp file. Then, in a sequencer, I assign like 15 seconds to the bmp file with a fade out at the end.

The bmp file needs to 320x240 ... at least for VCD's.

    You can even string many bmp's together to approximate a change in the image. Animation would be difficult. But a progression of messages works well;

    <disk 1 ends>
    <first image, 2 second durration> Please insert disk 2
    <2nd image, 3 seconds> Common, hury up!
<3rd iamge, 3 seconds> Are you paying ANY attention!?

You get the idea. Good for a cheap laugh

  12. 320x240? are you sure that works without any conversion? my tutorial on high res vcd stills:

  14. Im just curious, if you go to grab this movie or VCD set off the shelf...you open it, and notice "hey its got 2 disks that go with it"...so you pop in disk 1, and after disk 1 plays and comes to the end...wouldnt you think that maybe you need to put in disk 2 next??...seems a waste of time worrying about making a menu you to tell you to put in disk 2....just mark disk 1 (1 of 2) on the label, and disk 2 (2 of 2) and go on with life??

something i was doing for awhile was

1 - capturing a frame from the movie to a BMP file (VCDCutter, VirtualDub, ATI VideoCD Player)

2 - editing the BMP and inserting the text, "Insert next disc..."

    3 - extracting a ten-second clip from the movies/mpeg's beginning/ending (VCDCutter, TMPGEnc)

4 - loading the BMP as the video source and the ten-second clip from step 3 as the audio source in TMPGEnc

    5 - encoding a new ten-second, next_disc mpeg

    6 - adding the next_disc mpeg/track to disc 1

no menus, just a ten-second mpeg with a scene/frame from the movie and related soundtrack (beginning/ending of movie)...

  17. If you want some motion to "insert disc 2" you can do it in flash, convert, and join to the end of part 1. That's what I normally do.
