  2. I'm working on a way to do this. Currently I can get to avi with excellent video quality but cannot get the audio to sync for some reason. Tho I usually get frustrated and give up. The program I use is called realmedia analyzer. Here's the steps so far.

    1. Use rma to demux the audio and video.
    2. Then extract segments of the video with the program as well (usually you can get around 8 to 10 minute extractions without going over the 2gig file size limit imposed by Tinra).*
    3. Convert with Tinra to avi.
    4. Use virtual dub to join the files together, using the compression you want.

    * - When extracting, note the actual keyframe that it extracts on. Cause when you extract you can say extract from 00:08:00.00 to 00:16:00.00 but it may actually go to 00:16:00.59 So make sure to right that down, so that your next extraction starts at 00:16:00.59. Please read the documentation for rma it explains a lot.

Unfortunately now comes the syncing and I have not had any success with syncing yet. I've tried doing it manually as well, but usually get too frustrated to keep trying. Going to give it another try this weekend and see how it works out.

As for joining to realmedia files, I know they are out there, but besides RealProducer (which must be bought) I can't think of any right now.

    Hope that helps a little.
