  1. New R200 arrived yesterday. Works great! Aside from the fact that I had a defective unit, I am blown away by the stunning detail of the printer.

  2. I have the Epson r300 and absolutely love it. I have really enjoyed reading through your posts to see what everyone else thinks about this printer! I was wondering, has anyone ever tried or heard about someone trying to use a business card CD in this printer?

    Thanks,
    Jamie

  3. the tray itself supports a business card CD, but I've heard people complain about a lack of software options to actually print such a cd. I haven't messed with it myself. I don't like CD media that isn't round.

  4. what's wrong with non-traditional media? i think business card CDs are cool. especially if you're in that kind of business... or even for pictures like a vcd to distribute to family, etc.

  5. i just bought some abacus ink (generic). will post when i see how it turns out!

  6. best buy has it. they had a display model and my friend wetted his finger and the ink smeared of the display demo cd. Don't know if it was just because it was a plain silver cdr or an actual inkjet printable cd.

Any news on this? I figured since this ink is not waterproof that it would not work well? I'd love the ability to do this...with 4 boys I have all sorts of T-shirt ideas!

Bump for an answer....got 4 boys..would be cool if I could make them shirts...that would last after a wash!

  9. Well the shirts should last since when the heat transfer is done they are protected by the coating. I have never seen a problem with this.

Never used epson ones just some cheap generic ones.
    Not bothered by small problems...

  11. Finally tried the avery transfers. they print fine on it but they don't seem to iron on as well as they have in the past. I've done several on my old HP and they work fine all the way around, but after ironing on this time they got severe wrinkling. Don't know if its the difference in ink causing this or if they've changed something in the composition of the transfers.

What concerns me is how this non-waterproof the ink in the R200/R300 is...you can wash it off a CD/DVD from what I read in here. So how does it stay on clothes then?

  13. when you apply the heat to the transfer the ink melds with the transfer material which makes it waterproof. I've washed the one I did and there is no color loss at all.

  14. I've been trying to find an R200 locally (St Louis Mo USA).....BestBuy, CompUSA, Office Depot, OfficeMax, all carry the R300 only. Any idea where to look for an R200 without a mail order?

  15. well i bought mine at staple's. so if you have one in your area they should have it.

  16. I've had my R200 for about a week now...

the printing quality is amazing, on a good CD pic from cdcovers.cc you
can't tell the difference between the real one and the r200 printed one.

    now for the bad part...

of the discs i've done so far (about 6) 4 of them have playback
problems. So i looked at the underside of the disc and there's
odd cracks - not physical cracks, but like small thin chips/cracks
in the DVD dye. The top of the disc doesn't show them they
are under the plexiglass - so some how the printer did it or the
ink. I don't have my camera here or i'd take a picture of it, but it's
    not good.

the media is Ritek G04's, white inkjet printable's. Burner is a Pioneer
    106. I've burned over 200 DVD's with this burner and media and not
had a single problem, and nothing like what I've seen with this printer.

kind of a pisser since I bought it just for this purpose.

  17. Too bad...no Staples in St Louis. Maybe at a Sears?

  18. Just grab one myself. WOW! A local place knocked 10 off of it so that payed for the tax.

Tried it on cheep Fry's media. Passed both finger { non wet } and paper rub test.

Is there a way to force it to blead print on the disk? IE out to the edge?

  20. FWIW....after some searching, I found an R200 at another CompUSA on the other side of town. $99 less $10 if you buy any pack of Epson paper at the same time (MIR).

They also offered me a 2yr extended service contract for $39 less a rebate coupon for $20 when applied to Epson ink cartridges. They also would throw in a USB hub to sweeten the deal. Bought the printer but not the contract.

  21. Tnks x-kid! I figured it would.

Just for info. The 2nd pack of Prinitables from Frys looks like the hub can be print on also!

  22. One quick thing. Do most use the basic program or Photoslop then the base program to do the disk art?

    Just wondering.

  23. I use Surething 4.0 for the cd labels.

  24. I just bought my R200 from www.mwave.com for $83.00 plus 3 day shipping which came out to be $105.00. Shipping racked the price up but i didnt pay taxes on it. If i would have bought it from the store it still would have been more $$. Looking forward to playing with it, gonna get mine by Wed.

    Thanks for the Iron-On info....

Best overall price I've seen (and how I got mine) is Staples.com...

$99.99 minus a $15 off $100 coupon code (add a .37 eraser...search for Staples coupons at Fatwallet.com and or Google) equals $85 and they almost always have free shipping on orders $75 and up. Cant beat that.

  28. Looked at the demo CD they had at a local Frys. Notist that it was scratch and was silver at the scratch and where it was not printed. I would assume that they use a silver possibly a non-print media disk. Would have been white underneath or around the scratch.

Was the demo show cd the same picture as the guy on the box?

Just for giggle tried some of their cheep CD 100 pack. Came out pretty good. Even hit it with my fingernail fair presure.

Attached is a pic of the disk. A bit hard to see.

  29. I've seen a non printable disc printed with the R200. You can easily tell. the ink pools and never dries. what you saw was probably a silver printable. and the ink smears VERY easily with moisture. I clear coat mine.
