I have an external usb 2.0 hard drive (Iomega) that I use for data backups. I tried to hook it to a usb2.0 hub but it didn't work. They said it needed to be connected straight to the computer. It works fine like this.
Now my question...I would like to purchase an external firewire hard drive (at least 120 gb) for video capture only. I have an ADVC-100 hooked to my firewire. I have only one firewire port on my pc. Should I get a firewire hub? I am just afraid that a hub won't work for firewire capture on a hard drive or the advc-100. Should I capture to my computer then move to the external hard drive so I can use one at a time? Thanks for your help and any suggestions.![]()

I'm guessing that for what a Firewire hub costs, you could just buy a cheap Firewire card (~$30) with 3 or 4 ports. Problem solved, assuming you have an open PCI card slot.

The drive should have 2 connections on the back, firewire is meant to be looping, so you might not have any problems.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
