There is a 'WIDE' signal, which tells our TV to switch to 16:9. I do not know, where this signal stems from, but probably it's encoded into the MPEG2 video.
When i use Nero Recode 2 on PAL (R2) videos, the backups are perfect, including this 'WIDE' signal, too. But! When i backup an NTSC (R1) video, this signal is missing. I tried it with 3 a dosen different discs, and the result is the same. This annoys me, because i need to switch the TV from 'auto' to '16:9' mode during DVD playback because of this problem.
Maybe Recode 2 compresses NTSC video stream differently?
