  1. I have been burning my Region 1 DVD's using DVD Shrink then burning to my software that came with my Memorex DVD + & - 4X Burner. It came with Easy CD/DVD Creator software.
I am an entertainer & I have this Concert DVD which is only on Region 2, I need to burn it so it can be viewed on a region 1 player so my backup singers can view & learn from the DVD Concert.
What can I do.... I am limited in knowledge with computers but I can follow instructions well, & I also have a computer tech that would help me if I don't understand something.
    Thanks, Joe P.

  2. There are a number of guides to the left that should talk you through it - getting rid of the region coding is a doddle, it's converting it from PAL to NTSC that can be a bit of a bugger. You may not need to do this (depending on hardware), but as a pointer, look at the guides for converting from PAL to NTSC and see how you get on.

    Joe,
Nearly every tool you use from here removes the region coding from the disc in the process....alot of them are set that way as the default settings.
With the resulting Region Free disc your back-up singers will AT LEAST be able to view the backed up disc it in a computer. Computers will play either PAL or NTSC discs....provided they are Region Free. A Region Coded disc actually effects the computer's DVD Rom drive in a negative way...not the computer itself. The user of the disc will be asked to change the region code setting of their DVD Rom drive...which is a simple process....however most DVD Rom drives can only be chaged from one region to another a certain number of times...then the drive becomes useless after that preset number of changes is reached.
Look into DVDDecrypter and the many guides available for it.....the resulting will render the disc Region Free...making at least half of the battle won.

  4. Hi,

The software that you already have (DVD Shrink) actually will do this. You can either select a specific region or create a completely region-free DVD.

  5. Thanks for getting back to me, but I am looking for a way to change the Region 2 DVD so it will play on any Region 1 home dvd player.
The backup singers don't have a dvd rom drive on their computers but do have a dvd player in their homes.
Any ideas for that will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Joe

  6. Sorry if I miss the point, but in your first post you mention that you burned a DVD. SO, using DVD Shrink, you should basically make a copy of your Region 2 DVD and (in the process) either select Region 1 or remove region settings from the copy altogether.

You cannot "change" the region code on your original DVD. The only way that I know of is making a (DVD Shrink) copy. If your friends' DVD players will play burned DVDs (DVD-R, DVD+R, or the RW varieties of either) then the way described above is the way to go, I think.

Let me know if you need further information.

Remember you have TWO hurdles to cross. You can make a DVD from Region 2 to Region 1....or even Region 0 easily. That's ONE hurdle.

The disc you send will still be a PAL disc....provided what I am guessing is true....that being you are in PAL Land and the disc you are trying to copy/change regions on.....is a factory pressed PAL Region 2 DVD.

Just changing regions does not make it playable if the format is not the same (PAL vs. NTSC)....it HELPS....but is not a "cure all".
