  1. When I first installed WinXP I somehow configured it so the welcome screen did not appear, it just loaded to the desktop. After I accepted the WinXP .NET stuff from the update site, it boots to the welcome screen and waits for me to click my name (administrator) to finish loading.
I am the only account on this computer and like using the boot up time to grab a soda and/or snack before I get to work . Where is the button to disable this? I've looked all over the 'user accounts'dialog box to see if everything looks ok and nothing seems out of order. If I uninstall the .NET stuff will the settings go back to what it was (change back to prior settings)?

  4. i think the reason the logon screen don't come is because you are the only user on Windows. Just earlier i deleted all but one accounts on my xp professional and when i rebooted the machine no logon name. but when i logged off it appeared, there maybe some setting to change all that but i got a clue, someone here can hopefuly help you bit more.

  5. What are you trying to do? Have the Logon Screen or go straight to the desktop? I don't feel like typing both options but I will when you tell me which one you'd like or... go to "The Eldergeeks of WinXP"

Right click on "My Computer" or use Windows Key + Pause/Break to bring up the system properties. Under the "Advanced" tab click on "User Profiles". Make sure there is only one user account listed under there. Sometimes a guest account is made for whatever reason.
