I am trying to burn a vcd which can be played both on my Stand alone DVD player & on my computer.

I follow the instructions from the "How To" section and captured mpg files by using the latest ATI AIW softwares from the ATI web sites. I made the files VCD compliant by using the TMpgenc software. I then used Nero 5.5.5.1 to burn the vcd.

The problems is that the vcd I made with Nero plays perfectly in my DVD Player, but when I tried to play it using ATI video player on my computer, I get a message "cannot play vcd 2.0 format". When I tried to play it using Media Player, I get a format not recognized message.

Then I tried to burn the vcd again using Nero by turning off VCD compliant, the files now can only be played by using Windws Media Player, and it won't play correctly on my DVD Player.

Anybody has any idea how I can make them both play correctly?"

  2. The ATI player doesn't support SVCD as a standard. It will only play VCD1. It won't even play vcd2. You can dry opening the dat or mpeg file with file player directly. That sometimes works. Otherwise download a freeware SVCD player.
