  1. hi everyone, after a few months of research on this and other sites i have sucessfully built my own stanalone 1 to 7 dvd duplicator.
while this may not seem to be a great accomplishment to some. i am very proud of my project especially that it cost me a total of $1035 usd plus if it breaks i know how to fix it. if anyone wants the specs and help in building thier own just post and i will let you know how i did it.
trust me it is not hard to do and not worth the $1500 plus you see them being sold for.

Congratulations! That sounds like a pretty cool project you have there and I'd be interested to know how you pulled it off. Thanks in advance.

  8. I have a small business doing Sports Videography. Here is my typical process:
    1. Film a lacrosse or soccer game or whatever using Sony Vx2000 camera and DV tape.
    2. Import into Mac G5 using Imovie ( simple and basic)
    3. After setting chapter marks, I move to IDVD.
    4. Burn a master using the G5
    5. load master into DVD duplicator ACARD controller 1 to 3 duplicator. Uses Pioneer Drives, I think !

PROBLEM: Lately, I noticed a DVD ejected from drive 2 with a fail code that I did not write down. I had gotten word back from customers that some of my DVDs were skipping, freezing etc. The DVD from drive 2
    - will play back OK using my Pioneer DVD510
    - will not plan in my Apple G4
    - will not play in my Phillips DVD player
    - will play Ok in my Apple G5
How can I be sure its a drive 2 problem ?
Is there a way I can test the quality of the DVD -R ??
see ? It is kind of weird ! The store I bought the duplicator from ( which they build up themselves) told me to use a DVD lens cleaner. Make sense ??

Any advice here ? You think the ACARD controller could be bad ?

Maybe I had bad DVD-R’s ?? Probably not, I produce a good master
