Forgive me if this is considered a double post (from a newbe!) but I get intermittant lines when I capture TV. They seam to be more prevalent when there is a change in action. The lines are not visable until I start to capture and when I do capture they are not present most of the time, but will appear every 10 seconds or so but not really in any pattern.

I'm using XP Pro, AMD 1900+, MSI KT3 Ultra MB (VIA KT333 chipset), WinFast 2000XL Deluxe, Radeon 9600Pro, SB Live 5.1, 512 Ram, capturing to second 160GB, 7200 rpm, 8MB cache HD.

This occurs if I use WinFast PVR, Movie Factory 2, Video Studio 7 or NeroVission Express 2 to capture. I've done some experimenting with capture settings but haven't found a way to eliminate the lines.

    Any sugestions?

  2. FYI.

FM antenna & TV cable interfere:

Interference may come from many sources:
    1. Power Supply of your PC
    2. RF Cable ground from your TV service provider

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm begining to think that my problem has something to do with sharing the PCI bus. I don't understand exactly what the problem is, but I've found numerouse mentions of latency timer problems or possibly the buffers of the Capture card overflowing. There also seems to be issues with the SB Live 5.1 being a "PCI Hog".

I'm using the current VIA 4 in 1 drivers (4.51) and current SB Live driver. I've played with the PCI Latency Timers in the bios but going from a low of 32 to a high of 256(?) I haven't seen any differnece. I've left it at 128.

The odd thing is that I'm quite sure I dind't have this problem (with the same hardware) before I formatted and reinstalled XP Pro.

I know I'm being vague, but can anyone comment on this?

    Cheers

  4. Hi

I am having similar problem with my system Athlon 2500+, mobo Gigabyte nforce2 ultra 400, H/D SATA 80gb Maxtor, ATI Radeon 9200, 512 DDR 400 Samsung, TV card Leadtech TV2000 XP Deluxe.
But this problem appears only when capturing AVI with resolutions more than 352x288.

With mpeg1 or mpeg2 I have no problem. But when capturing more then 352x288 and using huffyuv or raw AVI I got similar noise. Why, I really don’t know.

I also tried changing capturing card, used Pinnacle PCTV pro…with same results. Some times I got greenish lines in the lower left side of the screen.
If it is H/D problem and interference why then I have no problem with mpeg1, mpeg2 or 352x288 resolution?

    Strange…

Well, I installed a new SB Audigy 2 ZS which made no differnce (in terms of the lines anyway!). I noticed that the lines appear when I'm not caputing also (simply viewing TV or watching input from VCR through S-Video), just not as frequently or noticable as when I'm capturing.

    Any additional sugestions?

  6. Try to change the PCI settings in MB's BIOS SETUP:
    "PCI Concurrent"
    "PCI Delay Transaction"
    ...

    Concurrent PCI
allows multiple PCI transfers from PCI mas- ter busses to the memory and processor

It is highly recommended that you enable PCI Delay Transaction for better PCI performance and to meet PCI 2.1 specifications. Disable it only if your PCI cards cannot work properly with this feature enabled or if you are using PCI cards that are not PCI 2.1 compliant.

Thanks for the suggestion. Indeed, my PCI Delay Transaction was disabled, but alas, enabling it didn't solve the problem. I haven't found anything the BIOS that looks like it is a "PCI Concurrent" setting.

I have posted to another forum and there were suggestions that perhaps it is an issue with hard drive activity. This makes some sense to me as the lines are much more prevalent when I capture than when I just watch TV or video. But again, there is a lot more going on when capturing.

I have treid the latest (4.51) VIA drivers but am currently using the 4.49. Also, i just updated the MB BIOS to the current level (5.70), but it had no affect on the line problem.

    Any other ideas?

  8. Make sure your Capture Board doesn't share its IRQ with another board which requires medium/heavy bandwidth (e.g. Soundboard).

If you have a motherboard with a VIA Chipset try this patch:

    http://www.georgebreese.com/net/software/dl04.php?FILE=vlatency_v020_beta21.exe

You can also try these other two patches:
