Ok guys I would very much appreciate it if you could help me out with some questions I have.
First of all, I have some TV show episodes in mpeg and avi format in cds (not playable in my Paritek DVD player which if I have learnt correctly here in the forums would have made it a VCD?) in which I want to add subtitles. I am from Greece therefore I wish to add Greek subtitles. I searched the forum and tools and what I need according to the threads and guides I read are TMPGEnc and VobSub which I already have. Now since I want to make my own subtitles, I checked the guide where it says to search for subtitle converters, but most of them were for DVD subtitles. My question is what should I use to write my own subtitles, save them in sub or srt format asd the guide says, and then apply them to my mpeg or avi files with the help of TMPGEnc and VobSub? Dont worry I have checked the forum and tools but I dont understand how and which subtitle tool I should use.
Any kind of help would be very much appreciated.

The standard tool for creating your own subs from scratch is "sub station alpha". vobsub can open the SSA script directly if you use the "textsub" filter.

Yeah thanks I found the same program too but also found out that it has changed to Subtitle Workshop..some program from Uruguai I think. Any way I tried to use it and I managed to write some subtitles but could not sync them (meaning could not sync them with the beginning time and ending time of the actual sentence). I then thought that maybe I should write all the subtitles of the TV show in Word or Notepad save them as txt or sub and then import them to the episode and then trying to sync them. Im so lost with this program.
