  1. I watch an avi movie on pc and its perfect.Then I encode with TMPG and burn to cd with nero.
    When I play it on my home dvd player, the pic is so bad you cant watch it.Ive gone through all the help files here, changed all the settings, tried to get it right for 2 weeks now, but still havent had any luck.
    The pic is blurred and colour distorted but sound ok.
    If I burn an MPEG movie,its perfect, but they are hard to find.
    Anyone got any ideas,,,,,have 4 movies in avi format that I want to watch on tv,,,,pulling my hair out here

    susiesue,
    First, I hope you have made all the steps correctly to make a VCD => encoded with TMPGen your .mpg in VCD compliant and burned it with Nero in VCD 2.0.
    1) what's is your DVD Player Unit (model)? Some don't play VCD. To verify you can go to the first page of this website on top;
    2) If it plays I think you have problems with your CD-R midia.

    Good luck!

  3. Hey, try letting nero encode the avi file. It's worth a try

    If the source isn't that great, encoding to VCD will usually decrease the quality since it limits the maximum bitrate to a low amt (1150 k) and may decrease the resolution. Make sure you're encoding to at least the same bitrate as the avi. However, this may make it unplayable in your standalone.

    And, NO, DO NOT LET NERO ENCODE THE AVI. Quality will suck more.
