  1. I used Unlead DVD movieFactory 2 to encode and burn movie to a dvd. It works fine in my computer but not on dvd player. Any advice or hints as to why the dvd won't play in a stand alone dvd player?

  2. Did you put all the MF2 files into a VIDEO_TS folder then burn that folder? If not then that's the problem.

  3. If you fill out your profile you will get more and better replies. It's a waste of everyones keystrokes to keep asking what hardware you have.

The first thing you should do is go to the DVD players section over to the left and see if YOUR player supports YOUR format.

No I think I just checked the box to burn. Then it encoded it and burned it. So I should have made a folder first, and then burned th folder?

  5. Sorry Presto, I filled it in.
Checked the dvd list and it's compatible, so I'm going to try Bob W's suggestion.

  6. Sorry Presto, I filled it in.
Nothing to be sorry for. I didn't intend to sound harsh, I just typed it quickly.

  7. Um, I have created the Video _TS folder, but now I don't know how to burn the folder. Do I use Unlead Movie Factory? Doesn't seem to have the option to burn a folder. I know I am way out of my depth, and it would seem in a mans world here but I am trying really hard to learn. Sorry if I'm a pain, I'm blonde too, so be kind

  8. I forgot all about my profile, and I do understand it must be frustrating for you, when you try and help and rely on the info in the profile. I didn't stop to think, and I am sorry. You, and others here help us, and at least we could help with a simple thing as our profile.

If Ulead DVD movieFactory burned a DVD for you I'm sure it took care of the folder structure for you. You can easily check by using windows to "explore" the DVD and seeing what is actually burned on the DVD. Should be two folders: VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. The AUDIO_TS should be empty and the VIDEO_TS should have your .vob, .ifo, and .bup files in it.

The sad fact is you can do everything right and the DVD still might not play in a given player. Try a few other players (Take you DVD to a friends house).

Also when you say it plays on your computer what do you mean? Are you using Power DVD to play it like a DVD with menu and all or are you just playing it windows as a video? If Power DVD plays it with functioning menu that would also confirm that the folder structure is correct.

  11. I viewed the movie on my computer using InterVideo WinDVD 4. I used a TDK DVD-RW disk to burn it on. Is WinDVD 4 okay for viewing DVD's?

  12. I think Win DVD is similar to Power DVD but you didn't answer the important question. When you play it does it have a menu that works?

  13. Presto, yes the menu works

  14. Sounds like Ulead DVD Factory made proper DVD but for some reason your DVD player doesn't like it.

Try having Ulead DVD factory just make the files for you and then use Nero or Record Now to burn it to disk. As far as I know it is just trial and error. There is no guarantee of compatability. The good news is if your DVD is made correctly it is more likely than not that it will play. You just got unlucky (I think).

  15. Thanks Presto, I think you are right. I am going to try it using nero. I'm sure (I think) I'll get there in the end. Thanks again.
