Im in the market for a new burner, still reading the reviews and learning.
Buffer under run is something I see in the spec but not something that I see a lot written about. Just how important is this. The Sony 510ak has 8mg while the new Pioneer 106 / 107 has 2Mg, are cheaper and seem to get a far better write up. Can someone please advice on this before I blow the cash.

If buffer underrun is your main concern, go for a burner that has Buffer Underrun Protection (like the LG GSA-4040B or GSA 4081-B).
OTOH, it must be said that you should probably spend the time and effor required to eliminate (or greatly reduce) the likelihood of b/u in the first place, by setting up your system properly.
